2026 Interior Trends: Neo Deco Revives Art Deco Glamour

Published on

Zoe Saldana recently shared an Instagram clip of herself rising from bed with a joyful stretch, highlighting more than just the premiere of her new film, Avatar: Fire and Ash. The bedroom glimpse revealed Neo Deco, a leading decor style for 2026. Featuring off-white walls, crisp white bedding, a dark side table, and a sleek teardrop gold lamp, the space culminated in a striking gold headboard adorned with subtle hand-painted florals.

This bold yet minimalist aesthetic tops the 2026 Pinterest Predicts report, building on the art deco revival from the 1920s and 1930s that gained momentum last year.

Defining Neo Deco

Magdalena Gierasinska, head of product and displays at Barker and Stonehouse, describes the shift: “Neo Deco reimagines art deco for modern interiors by applying its signature geometry and luxurious materials in a more pared-back and curated way, with fewer heavy ornamental details, softer colour combinations, and a focus on creating elegant spaces, rather than grandiose glamour.”

The style prioritizes sophistication, craftsmanship, and a blend of vintage nods with forward-thinking design. It counters prolonged minimalism through standout features.

Signature Elements

Erica Davis, founder of Eralyn Interiors, notes key features: “This trend is showing up in sculptural lighting and curved upholstery, not just on sofas but also on beds, chairs, and benches. There’s a lot of fluting and metallic accents, too. Another standout is the return of bold natural stones, like red, pink, and brown marbles.”

Achieving the Neo Deco Look

Strategic updates bring Neo Deco into any home without major overhauls. Start with lighting by installing sculptural pendant lamps in brass or chrome with geometric shapes.

Elevate surfaces with opulent touches applied sparingly. Rocky Hill Home advises: “Consider a small, high-impact application of luxury materials, such as a red marble top on a console table or a small area of black and white geometric tile in a bathroom.”

Experiment with textures in fabrics and upholstery, including velvet pillows, channel-tufted ottomans, and lamps with knurled bases.

Incorporate iconic geometries like fan arches, zigzags, starbursts, and triangles. Rocky Hill Home suggests: “Use accessories like geometric-framed mirrors, patterned art, or even crisp chevron cushions to weave the iconic pattern into a more contemporary, pared-back room.”
