Meek Mill weighed in on Shannon Sharpe dropping his ESPN position this week, simply days after settling a high-profile rape lawsuit.
The Philly rapper hopped on-line along with his blunt response late Wednesday night time (July 30). He wrote, “Yall too previous to be getting fired fr.”
The remark got here hours after information broke that Sharpe wouldn’t return to ESPN, following the decision of a $50 million civil lawsuit filed in April by a girl recognized as “Jane Doe.”
Sharpe addressed his departure on his “Nightcap” podcast Wednesday (July 30). He revealed he had requested ESPN to delay the announcement till after his brother Sterling Sharpe’s Professional Soccer Corridor of Fame induction.
“The one factor that I actually requested is, ‘Guys, may we wait till Monday? My brother’s going into the Professional Soccer Corridor of Fame. I actually need it to be about him and I would like it to be about my household,” Sharpe defined. “I mentioned, ‘This popping out will overshadow all the things he’s labored his whole life for.’ And, sadly, it didn’t occur that means.”
Sharpe added, “They did what they felt they wanted to do, I’m at peace with that. I simply want this factor may’ve waited till Monday as a result of I hate the truth that I’m overshadowing my brother.”

The swimsuit, lodged in Nevada, accused Sharpe of sexual assault, battery and inflicting emotional misery throughout alleged incidents in late 2024 and early 2025.
Sharpe denied the allegations by his authorized staff, calling the connection “fully consensual” and describing the lawsuit as a “shakedown.”
The case was settled in July, although the phrases weren’t made public. No legal expenses have been filed.
ESPN has not issued a proper assertion on the choice or its timing, although a number of retailers confirmed the separation adopted the settlement.
Meek Mill Confronted Backlash Over Pictures
Again in April, Meek Mill caught warmth on-line for posting a photograph with two White feminine followers shortly after the lawsuit towards Sharpe turned public. Critics accused him of being tone-deaf. Meek dismissed the backlash, writing, “It’s a daily pic with followers. Web melting the minds of the black group wthelly.”
Sharpe had taken a break from ESPN after Doe filed the lawsuit. Nevertheless he had initially deliberate to return for the 2025 NFL season.
