Grammy Award winner Brett James dies in aircraft crash aged 57

Songwriter Brett James has died aged 57 in a aircraft crash.

The Grammy Award profitable star, who picked up a prize in 2007 for Carrie Underwood’s Jesus, Take The Wheel, is one among three individuals who died after a small-engine aircraft crashed in a area near a college in North Carolina.

In response to FlightAware information, the aircraft was registered to the musician, whose full identify was Brett James Cornelius.

The aircraft, a Cirrus SR22T plane, left Nashville, Tennessee and crashed in Macon County at round 3pm on Thursday.

It’s stated the Nationwide Transportation Security Board is launching an investigation into the incident.

The FAA instructed Information 13: ‘A Cirrus SR22T crashed in a area in Franklin, North Carolina, round 3 p.m. native time on Thursday, Sept. 18. Three folks have been on board.

‘The FAA and Nationwide Transportation Security Board will examine. The NTSB will probably be accountable for the investigation and can present additional updates.’

In a press release, the Nashville Songwriters Affiliation Worldwide (NSAI) added: ‘The NSAI household is surprised by the demise of board member and legendary songwriter Brett James.

‘The loss is profound.’

The Nashville Songwriters Corridor of Fame stated: ‘We mourn the premature lack of Corridor of Fame member Brett James, a 2020 inductee who was killed in a small-engine airplane crash on Sept. 18.’

James initially deliberate a profession in medication, however stop college to pursue music, releasing his first solo album in 1995.

He began writing for the likes of Billy Ray Cyrus and Kenney Chesney, and he landed his first of 26 primary singles in 2001 with Jessica Andrews’ hit Who I Am.

He went onto write over 300 songs for main labels, together with Jesus, Take The Wheel which gained greatest nation music on the Grammys.

In 2020, James was introduced for the Nashville Songwriters Corridor of Fame, and he marked the event with I Am Now, his first self-written album in over 20 years.

He was formally inducted on the 2021 ceremony, after the pandemic pressured the postponement.
