YNW Melly’s movement to substitute his authorized staff forward of his double-murder retrial has been granted.

On Wednesday (Sept. 24), Melly appeared in Broward County Courtroom, the place Decide Martin Fein dominated on Melly’s August movement to switch the authorized staff who has been engaged on his case for years with attorneys Drew Findling and Carey Haughwout.

“That is what you need, proper?” Fein requested Melly, based on NBC 6 Miami. “Ms. Haughwout and Mr. Findling to seem as your attorneys? You need all the opposite attorneys to be allowed to withdraw and have these two to be your attorneys going ahead? That is what you need me to do?”

“Sure, sir,” Melly responded.

Melly requested the brand new counsel in August and cited his former lawyer, Raven Liberty, being beneath investigation for reported witness tampering.

“The actual fact of this battle makes it unimaginable for each Mr. Demons and his present counsel to proceed the illustration,” Melly wrote in his August movement.

Drew Findling is a well known lawyer in hip-hop circles, having represented the likes of Cardi B, Gucci Mane, NBA YoungBoy, YFN Lucci, GloRilla, Younger Dolph and others. He’s presently the lead lawyer on Lil Durk’s murder-for-hire case. Carey Haughwout is an skilled lawyer who served as Palm Seaside County’s Public Defender for twenty-four years.

Melly is charged with the 2018 homicide of his former pals YNW Juvy and YNW Sakchaser. Melly’s first trial led to a mistrial in July of 2023. In August, Melly’s codefendant, YNW Bortlen, took a 10-year plea deal.

Melly’s new trial date has been set for Jan. 7, 2026.
