A disturbing video captures the moment an Afghan national inquired about a 12-year-old girl’s age moments before allegedly raping her near a playground in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, last July.

The footage shows 23-year-old Ahmad Mulakhil speaking to the girl on the street, asking, ‘How old are you? 20? 19? 16?’ When she responds ‘nineteen,’ he replies, ’19? Really?’ The pair then walks toward the location of the alleged assault.

Details of the Alleged Attack

Prosecutors state that Mulakhil and 24-year-old fellow Afghan Mohammad Kabir, both without fixed abode, targeted the schoolgirl around 6 p.m. after spotting her in a playground. Kabir faces accusations of attempting to strangle her with intent to commit a sexual offense, while Mulakhil is charged with multiple rapes occurring after 8 p.m.

Additional CCTV evidence presented in court depicts the men leaving a nearby park at approximately 6:05 p.m. on July 22. Later footage shows the victim entering a shop with Mulakhil post-assault, where he purchases two cans of an energy drink.

Victim’s Condition and Witness Accounts

The 12-year-old was discovered in a petrified state on the street, mumbling to herself and appearing frantic. Witnesses described her as crying, looking over her shoulder, and expressing fear that her attacker was still nearby.

One witness recounted the girl’s words: ‘Something happened to me.’ When asked if she was hurt, the girl replied, ‘He raped me.’ She added that her back hurt from being dragged around and that the man threatened to take her in a black BMW to Birmingham and London to rape her again. The witness noted, ‘She was very scared. She said, “He’s coming for me” – she knew he was still in the park, across the road.’

Another observer said, ‘You could see she was petrified, frantic, and she was crying. She was mumbling to herself.’

Legal Proceedings

Mulakhil has pleaded guilty to one count of oral rape but denies child abduction, two additional rape charges, two sexual assault counts, and taking indecent photographs of a child. Kabir denies intentional strangulation, committing an offense with intent to commit a sexual act, and attempting to abduct a child.

The trial at Warwickshire Crown Court continues, with further evidence expected.
