Kinetic Games, the developer behind Phasmophobia, unveiled its 2026 roadmap, highlighting four seasonal events, two revamped maps, one fresh location, and several major updates. These include a player character redesign, a shift to Unity 6, support for the Nintendo Switch 2, and the long-awaited 1.0 full release. The rollout begins early in the year.
Player Character Overhaul Arrives Soon
The player character update arrives by March, featuring new models, free cosmetics, and refined animations. This change aims to enhance the ghost-hunting experience with more lifelike movements.
1.0 Release Promises Major Surprises
Ghost hunters prepare for thrilling new challenges as the 1.0 version launches simultaneously on all platforms this year. Developers describe it as a landmark event, incorporating elements from the planned Horror 2.0 expansion and delivering unexpected features.
Map Updates and New Mysteries
Following recent farmhouse revisions, Willow Street and Tanglewood receive overhauls next. Tanglewood keeps a layout close to its original while adding new interactions, minor adjustments, and hidden elements at 6 Tanglewood Drive. Willow Street undergoes broader changes to refresh its design.
A brand-new map joins the lineup, though details remain under wraps. Alongside recurring seasonal events, a special one-time event emerges later in 2026.
Immersive Enhancements and Future Vision
Additional updates introduce more dynamic animations, allowing players to see their characters activate the EMF Reader, manipulate doors, and handle gear realistically. These improvements build on prior expansions like Chronicle, deepening the immersive horror atmosphere.
Daniel Knight, CEO of Kinetic Games and Phasmophobia’s game director, stated, “This year marks a significant milestone for Phasmophobia, with the 1.0 launch standing out as one of the game’s most pivotal moments since its 2020 debut. We focus on crafting an engaging experience for ghost hunters, and these updates align with our ongoing vision.”
Kinetic Games anticipates 2026 as a transformative period, propelling the early access title toward its complete version with enhanced depth and excitement.
