Jarrell Miller’s Hairpiece Dislodged in MSG Fight, Wins Decision

Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller experienced a bizarre moment during his heavyweight bout against Kingsley Ibeh on Saturday night at Madison Square Garden. As part of the undercard for the Teófimo López versus Shakur Stevenson event, Miller’s hairpiece came loose late in the second round amid a barrage of punches from Ibeh along the ropes.

The Unusual Incident Unfolds

One of Ibeh’s shots jerked Miller’s head back sharply, lifting the front of the hairpiece and revealing a significant bald spot before it flipped backward. The crowd reacted with a mix of surprise and amusement, filling the arena with gasps and laughter. Miller completed the round with the piece still dangling partially in place.

In his corner between rounds, Miller fully removed the hairpiece and tossed it toward the spectators. He returned for the third round bald-headed, seemingly unfazed, and the fight proceeded without any official interruption.

Miller Secures Narrow Victory

The match went the full distance, ending in a close split decision favor of Miller with judges’ scores of 97-93, 97-93, and 94-96. After the announcement, Miller celebrated by rubbing the top of his now-exposed head in the ring.

Speaking post-fight, Miller lightened the mood with humor, explaining that he had lost much of his hair just days prior after using a bottle of shampoo discovered at his mother’s house.

Miller’s Path in Heavyweight Boxing

At 37 years old, Miller continues to navigate a challenging career in the heavyweight division. He has maintained a semi-active schedule amid ongoing controversies. In 2019, he was set to challenge then-champion Anthony Joshua at the same venue but was pulled from the card following failed pre-fight drug tests. Joshua instead faced replacement Andy Ruiz Jr., who delivered one of boxing’s most shocking upsets by stopping him.

Following suspensions for anti-doping infractions, Miller has worked to rebuild his standing in the competitive heavyweight ranks. Saturday’s win, though unconventional, marks another step in that effort.
