Chelsea legend John Terry proclaimed that the Blues are back on track following their exhilarating Premier League victory over West Ham at Stamford Bridge.
Dramatic Turnaround Secures Vital Points
West Ham surged ahead 2-0 in the first half, with Jarrod Bowen opening the scoring early and Crysencio Summerville doubling the lead before the break. This put new Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior on the brink of his first league loss.
However, Chelsea mounted a stunning comeback after halftime. Joao Pedro pulled one back shortly after the restart, and Marc Cucurella leveled the score with a diving header 20 minutes from time. The match remained tense until captain Enzo Fernandez netted a dramatic injury-time winner, igniting the Stamford Bridge crowd.
Terry Celebrates the Revival
Reacting to the triumph on TikTok, Terry expressed his excitement: “What a result for Chelsea, what a result. We are back, we are back. Chelsea are back. What a result and how good are late goals, especially when you come from behind. Chelsea are back, West Ham are gone. The most important thing is Chelsea are back. Great result boys, well done.”
Rosenior Praises Team’s Resilience
Rosenior commended the squad’s determination, stating: “That’s football – it was a game of two halves. West Ham were by far the better team in the first half. Our energy and quality wasn’t there. We were lethargic, made tired decisions, our shape wasn’t good enough and they deserved to be 2-0 up. But all of the things I asked of the players in terms of reacting to setbacks, I saw. Tactics went out of the window – it’s about heart and spirit, fight and to hear the Stamford Bridge atmosphere, the fans got behind the players. Hopefully that can kick-start us into a really good end to the season.”
Cucurella, who scored the equalizer, highlighted the team’s mindset: “At half-time we spoke. In the end, it’s about our mentality and the desire we showed in the second half. We are very happy. [Liam Rosenior] said it’s about us. If we go to press, want the ball, play with confidence, we will get the chances to win. We have very good players and a very good team, since the start of the second half we showed a lot of energy and desire. If we play with this energy we are able to win a lot of games.”
Chelsea’s Strong Form Under New Leadership
This victory marks Chelsea’s sixth win in seven matches since Rosenior took over from Enzo Maresca. The team’s only setback was a loss to Arsenal in the Carabao Cup. Previously fifth in the standings, Chelsea now occupy a top-four position and have advanced to the Champions League knockout stages.
Chelsea face Arsenal next on Tuesday in the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg, aiming to reverse a one-goal deficit.
