Major Service Expansion Announced
Porter Airlines revealed significant route expansions from John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport this week, introducing new connections and increasing flight frequencies starting this spring.
New Route Additions
Beginning May 15, the airline will launch five weekly flights between Hamilton and St. John’s, Newfoundland, along with four weekly flights connecting Hamilton to Winnipeg. These new routes mark Porter’s latest expansion in the southern Ontario market.
Enhanced Service to Halifax
The airline will double its existing service between Hamilton and Halifax, increasing weekly flights from seven to fourteen. This expansion responds to growing demand for travel between Ontario and Atlantic Canada.
Extended Seasonal Service
Porter confirmed it will maintain its twice-weekly Hamilton to Fort Lauderdale route through summer months, extending what was previously only a winter seasonal service. This change provides year-round access to the Florida destination.
Existing Route Network
Current flight information shows Hamilton International Airport offers connections to multiple Canadian and international destinations including Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, Orlando, Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, and Punta Cana. Three major carriers – Porter, WestJet, and Air Canada – currently operate from the facility, with Air Canada providing a shuttle service to Toronto Pearson International Airport.
This expansion continues Porter’s growth strategy that began with its Hamilton service launch in early 2025. Industry analysts suggest these route additions could increase competition in Canada’s mid-sized airport markets.
