Hargreaves Compares Mbeumo to Salah After Man Utd’s Spurs Victory

Former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves has likened Bryan Mbeumo’s form to that of Mohamed Salah after the forward’s decisive goal in the team’s win over Tottenham Hotspur.

Mbeumo’s Goal Streak Continues

Bryan Mbeumo netted his third goal in four matches under manager Michael Carrick, finding the bottom corner with a composed finish from a smart corner routine involving Bruno Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo. This strike against Spurs followed goals versus Manchester City and Arsenal, bringing his season tally to 10 goals across 21 appearances.

The summer signing has shone on the right wing for much of the campaign but has thrived centrally ahead of Benjamin Sesko under Carrick, even drifting to the left during the Spurs clash.

Hargreaves Delivers High Praise

Speaking on TNT Sports, Hargreaves highlighted Mbeumo’s reliability: “He’s 26, 27, he can deliver, he’s just got it. He is a great finisher. I said this a little earlier in the season but he reminds me of Mo Salah. He is a good finisher when he is in those areas, he doesn’t get too up and doesn’t get too down which I think is a brilliant attribute.”

Mainoo Emerges as Key Asset

Hargreaves also lauded Kobbie Mainoo, who has started every match under Carrick after failing to feature in the Premier League lineup under predecessor Ruben Amorim. The England international delivered another strong midfield performance against Tottenham.

“I’ve never watched Kobbie play and he’s not played like that. I’ve never seen him have a bad game,” Hargreaves said. “I can’t believe how talented the kid is. This club is all about producing academy players and he is a fantastic one. When you think about the days of George Best coming through playing with flair and with risk, Kobbie is that type of player. He takes the ball at any point and you can pass it to him anywhere on the pitch and he looks like he’s playing the park with his mates. It’s a credit to him. He is so comfortable on the ball and he is so humble. He’s going to be a really special player.”
