Mercedes F1 driver Kimi Antonelli crashed his luxury £180,000 company car near his home in San Marino on Saturday night. The 19-year-old emerged unharmed, but the high-speed incident caused extensive damage to the vehicle.
Details of the Crash
The accident occurred on the San Marino highway near Serravelle Castle. Local reports describe multiple collisions spanning a 144-meter trajectory. The car first struck a traffic pole on one side of the road, then veered into the center, hitting the guardrail twice before slamming into a retaining wall on the opposite side. Police are investigating the scene.
Mercedes Confirms Driver Safety
In a statement, Mercedes confirmed the details: “Last Saturday evening, near his home in San Marino, Kimi was involved in a road accident. The police attended the scene after being called by Kimi. His was the only car involved and, although the vehicle sustained damage, Kimi was completely unharmed.”

Antonelli received the brand-new Mercedes-AMG GT 63 PRO 4MATIC+ ‘Motorsport Collectors Edition’ just days earlier. This limited-edition model, with only 200 units produced, features a standard price of £180,000 and accelerates from 0-62mph in 3.2 seconds.
Pre-Season Test Plans Unchanged
Despite the crash, Antonelli plans to participate in the Bahrain Formula 1 pre-season test. He will drive the Mercedes W17 during the afternoon session on Wednesday, the morning on Thursday, and the afternoon on Friday.
