Chicago West, 8, Plays Piano Like Dad Kanye After North’s Rap Debut

Kim Kardashian shared a video of her eight-year-old daughter Chicago demonstrating impressive piano skills, a talent that appears to come from her father, Kanye West.

Chicago’s Piano Performance

The 45-year-old posted a clip on Instagram Stories showing Chicago seated at a cream-colored piano in their home. The young girl played fluidly without sheet music, using both hands to maintain steady rhythm and coordination. Her curly dark hair was styled in a ponytail, and she wore a patterned pink dress. In the background, her six-year-old brother Psalm played with a friend.

Chicago, who turned eight in January, sat comfortably at the instrument, showcasing natural command.

North West’s Recent Rap Release

This revelation follows the debut of Chicago’s older sister North’s first rap single, “Piercing On My Hand,” released on social media last Friday. The 12-year-old featured on the cover art with bright blue hair and dermal piercings on her fingers.

North first showed off the finger piercings in November, drawing criticism from fans online who called them high-risk. She responded simply with “It’s okay” and a heart hands emoji. In December, North addressed detractors in a TikTok video, overlaying text that read: “This is for everyone that’s mad over a finger piercing.” The audio included: “Why are you crying? How old are you? Just pull it together.”

Musical Family Background

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West also share sons Saint, 10, and Psalm, 6. The family’s musical inclinations shine through in the children’s activities.

Kim on North’s Homeschooling and Self-Expression

During a January appearance on her sister Khloe’s podcast, Kardashian described North’s homeschool routine, which includes eight-hour music studio sessions for producing and writing. “I’ll add her writing out all of her lyrics as a part of her spelling tests,” she explained. “We do all of the things at home that she really enjoys and are challenging.”

Kardashian defended her parenting amid scrutiny, stating: “I’m just not a judgmental person like that, so I try not to pay attention to it.” She added that outsiders don’t understand their challenges: “No one knows, unless they’re in my shoes, what I’m dealing with and how we have to manage certain things from the outside world.”

She clarified misconceptions about being too lenient: “Northie actually has a lot of rules. The one area [of freedom] is that I do let her express herself.”
