Mason Mount Attracts Premier League Interest Amid Man Utd Exit Talk

Published on

Manchester United could see midfielder Mason Mount depart in the summer transfer window as Premier League clubs show continued interest in the 27-year-old. Nearly three years after his £55 million move from Chelsea, Mount has struggled to become a regular starter, appearing in just 66 matches with seven goals and two assists.

Injuries Hamper Progress

Injuries remain Mount’s biggest challenge, preventing him from replicating his prior Premier League form. Despite these issues, he maintains a strong reputation at the club for his work ethic.

High Praise for Training Attitude

Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown highlights Mount’s exemplary training habits and positive dressing room presence. Brown stated: “There’s going to be no shortage of interest in a player like Mount. He’s got a very good reputation and he’s spoken about very highly at Man United. Everybody I speak to says what a wonderful trainer he is, he works very hard and his general demeanour around the club and in the dressing room is good.”

Brown emphasized the value of Mount’s attitude: “That’s always good to hear if you’re looking into a player because it’s important to bring people in who have the right attitude and application.”

Potential Transfer Destinations

Several clubs eye Mount if he becomes available. Brown noted: “I’m told Aston Villa have been keen on him before and I’m sure he’s still on their radar, and then you’ve got teams like Fulham who will be looking if he is made available. I can imagine there are a number of Premier League teams who could do with a player like Mount. It’s just about whether he can stay fit for long enough to make a difference, I think that’s what will make or break any move for him, and the money involved as well.”

Imminent Return from Injury

Mount has been out since early February but nears a comeback. Interim manager Michael Carrick updated reporters: “Mason is getting closer, he’s on the grass, he’s looking to train and be around it. We’ve just had to be patient really.”

He missed the recent win over Crystal Palace but could feature against Newcastle midweek, followed by matches versus Aston Villa and Bournemouth. An international break offers further recovery time.

Manchester United aims for Mount’s full fitness to boost their Champions League push. This season, he has shone in versatile roles, including false nine, attacking midfielder, and central midfield.
