Mimi Rogers, Tom Cruise’s first wife, recently appeared glamorous and radiant during a rare public outing in Los Angeles.
Marriage to Tom Cruise and Introduction to Scientology
Rogers married Cruise in 1987 after meeting him in 1985. The private ceremony included only two guests: Cruise’s mother, Mary Lee Pfeiffer, and best man Emilio Estevez. At the time, Cruise was 23 and Rogers was 29.
During their marriage, which lasted until 1990, Rogers introduced Cruise to Scientology. She grew up in the church, as her father was an early member and friend of founder L. Ron Hubbard. Rogers and her father later left the organization.
The couple’s three-year union faced scrutiny due to their six-year age difference and Cruise’s rising fame. They separated in 1989, just before Cruise began filming Days of Thunder, where he met his next wife, Nicole Kidman.
Bold Revelation About Their Intimate Life
In a 1993 Playboy interview, Rogers addressed rumors about their divorce. She clarified, “Tom was seriously thinking of becoming a monk. At least for that period of time, it looked as though marriage wouldn’t fit into his overall spiritual need. And he thought he had to be celibate to maintain the purity of his instrument.”
She added that her own “instrument needed tuning.”
Recent Appearance and Career Highlights
Now 70, Rogers stepped out in sunny California wearing a flowing print blouse, white trousers, and oversized shades. Her dark hair flowed loosely, complemented by subtle makeup that highlighted her features.
Her film credits include The Mirror Has Two Faces (1996) with Barbra Streisand, Pierce Brosnan, and Lauren Bacall; Lost in Space; Gung Ho (1986) with Michael Keaton; and Desperate Hours (1990) with Mickey Rourke and Anthony Hopkins.
Recently, she appeared in Amazon series Bosch and Bosch: Legacy, starring Titus Welliver.
Personal Life and Side Ventures
Rogers married producer Chris Ciaffa in 2003 at a Beverly Hills courthouse. They share two children: daughter Lucy, 31, and son Charlie, 24.
She supplements her acting with personalized $125 video messages on Cameo and showcasing homegrown hay at county fairs.
