Country singer Maren Morris delivers a sharp critique of President Donald Trump supporters in a recent TikTok video. The 35-year-old artist labels Trump a “dementia-ridden, diaper-clad, cornball ex-TV host” and claims his voters got “bamboozled.”
“I don’t have forgiveness for the triple Trumpers or any of the Trumpers. You did vote for this,” Morris states at the video’s start. She continues, “This is literally the result of employing and voting for losers.”
The clip ends with Morris mocking Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, 45, saying, “Oh my God. Girl, his f*****g alcoholic sideburns. You’re done.” The video’s caption reads, “sorry to empty the clip.”
Morris’ Progressive Activism
Known for hits like “The Bones” and “My Church,” Morris maintains an outspoken profile in country music. She advocates for LGBTQ rights and racial justice while opposing conservative politics.
In June 2024, Morris came out as bisexual on Instagram, declaring, “Happy to be the B in LGBTQ+, happy pride!” She celebrated her first Pride the following June after describing parts of country music as “toxic” in 2023.
“That was just a facet of me that I didn’t think I wanted private anymore,” she explained. “Being honest and being vulnerable is the only way that you find community.”
Criticism of Country Music Scene
Morris addressed her 2023 comments on the New York Times’ Popcast, stating she could no longer “participate in the really toxic arms of this institution.” She told the Los Angeles Times, “I thought I’d like to burn it to the ground and start over. But it’s burning itself down without my help.”
In a 2025 Guardian interview, she clarified, “I never said I’m leaving country music.” Discussing her album Dreamsicle, she added, “You hear country music on this album. It’s in my bones.”
The Nashville resident of 12 years no longer pursues country radio or awards but continues collaborating with industry contacts. “The fans that I’ve made… is so important to me,” she emphasized.
Personal Life
Morris shares a five-year-old son, Hayes Andrew Hurd, with ex-husband Ryan Hurd, 39, another country artist. She revealed long-held attractions to both men and women but delayed public disclosure due to her career in Nashville.
“I’ve been in straight relationships the last 15 years… I never felt brave enough,” she shared on The Zoe Report.
