Michael J. Fox, 64, recently reunited with his Back to the Future costar Christopher Lloyd, 87, evoking nostalgia four decades after their iconic film.
Beachside Catch-Up
Fox shared a photo on Instagram of the duo dining together at a beachside restaurant. Both actors smiled while leaning toward each other at the table.
‘Dining with my bestie at the beach. Next year BTTF is 41. Great Scott,’ Fox captioned the post, referencing their 1985 blockbuster. He added, ‘Chris will be 8️⃣8️⃣. That’s some serious s***.’
Lloyd replied in the comments with a classic line from the film: ‘Man, that’s heavy.’
Back to the Future Legacy
In the original Back to the Future, Fox portrayed Marty McFly, a high school student who teams up with Lloyd’s eccentric inventor Emmett ‘Doc’ Brown. Their adventure involves time travel in a DeLorean-turned-time machine, transporting Marty to the 1950s.
Despite production challenges that increased the budget, the film became a massive hit, establishing Fox and Lloyd as pop culture icons. It spawned sequels Back to the Future Part II (1989) and Part III (1990).
Lucky’s Montecito Anniversary
The actors appeared together again the next day at the 25th anniversary celebration of Lucky’s Montecito, a celebrity-favorite steakhouse in Santa Barbara County.
Fox dressed casually in a brown denim jacket and a Late Show with David Letterman T-shirt. Lloyd opted for a sharper look with a black sport coat, matching button-up shirt, and dark-framed glasses.
Fox, who resides nearby in Montecito with his wife Tracy Pollan, mingled with other stars. He visited 92-year-old Carol Burnett at her table and posed for a photo with Michael Douglas, his costar from the 1995 film The American President.
Actor Awards Spotlight
Earlier this month, Fox opened the Actor Awards—formerly the Screen Actors Guild Awards—with a heartfelt monologue. The audience gave him a standing ovation, pausing his speech.
He recounted leaving school in Canada for Los Angeles to pursue acting. A teacher once told him, ‘Fox, you’re not gonna be cute forever.’ Fox replied, ‘Maybe just long enough, sir.’
Fox credited his role on Family Ties for meeting Pollan, who played his girlfriend Ellen. They share four children: son Sam, 36; twins Aquinnah and Schuyler, 31; and Esme, 24.
Pointing to Sam seated beside him, Fox quipped, ‘By the way, he’s not an actor, he’s just my date.’ He closed with, ‘I’m Michael J. Fox and a dad, and I’m an actor.’
Fox has openly battled Parkinson’s disease since his 1998 diagnosis and earns praise for his advocacy.
