Dylan Dreyer Submits Divorce Papers

Today show meteorologist Dylan Dreyer, 44, has filed for divorce from her husband of 12 years, Brian Fichera. The filing occurred on March 10, with custody details for their three sons—Calvin, 9, Oliver, 6, and Russell, 4—still pending.

Separation Announcement

The couple, who married in Boston in October 2012, announced their separation in July 2025. They had parted ways several months earlier. In an Instagram post, Dylan shared, “For many years, I have shared my family with you all – the highs and lows. The ups and downs. And all of the blessings and beautiful memories in between.”

She continued, “I am incredibly grateful for the support and love you’ve given me through it all. For that reason, I want to share with you that a few months ago, Brian and I made the decision to separate.”

Dylan emphasized their ongoing friendship: “We began as friends, and we will remain the closest of friends. Most importantly, we will continue to co-parent our three wonderful boys together with nothing but love and respect for one another.”

Backstory and Meeting

Dylan and Brian met in the 2000s while working at a Boston news station. Their professional relationship evolved into romance, leading to their wedding shortly before Dylan started co-anchoring Weekend Today in New York City.

Insights from Dylan on Today

Fans expressed surprise at the news. During a November episode of Today, Dylan addressed it with co-host Jenna Bush Hager. “I appreciate everyone’s comments that have spoken up about my life and our decisions and what we have decided as a family, thank you for your opinions on that,” she said.

She described the separation as freeing: “There’s something freeing, I think, for Brian and I, where – whatever reasons, whatever broke in a marriage – you could either fix it if you can, and ideally you would, and you try, and you try to fix things. Or you accept that it’s broken and you take this new step forward.”

The couple couldn’t repair their marriage, Dylan explained, choosing instead to reframe it for their children. “I’m not mad at those other things that I was getting mad at before because, just like a friend, you give them a little more grace when you’re not married to it. And I can be a better friend than a wife,” she added.

Explaining to the Children

Dylan shared how she discussed the change with eldest son Calvin. “I said, ‘What do you think a family is?’ And he said, ‘Well, it’s a group of people that love each other.'”

She replied, “‘That’s what we are. And we will always be that for you. But Mommy and Daddy work better as friends than as husband and wife.'” The children, she noted, focus on the love surrounding them daily, unconcerned with titles.
