Leeds Pub Crowd Boos Labour Chancellor Rachel Reeves on GB News

Published on

During a live GB News broadcast on March 19 from a bustling social club in Leeds, host Patrick Christys faced resounding boos from the gathered crowd when discussing Labour Chancellor Rachel Reeves.

Heated Exchange Ignites Crowd Reaction

Christys aimed to capture public sentiment across the country by engaging with local attendees. He remarked, “Labour was supposed to be the party for working people, and now they’re the party for not working people.” The statement triggered immediate boos from the audience.

Continuing, Christys added, “That is a really big problem, it’s not paying people to work any more and people have had enough. Labour has taken their voters for granted for a very long time.” The crowd responded with more vocal disapproval, particularly when he referenced Ed Miliband’s connection to Doncaster North and Rachel Reeves’ selection for Pudsey despite her roots in southeast London. Boos peaked at the mention of Reeves.

Pudsey Residents Share Experiences

Christys played a video clip featuring interviews with Pudsey locals about their encounters with Reeves. One resident stated simply, “I haven’t seen her personally, no.”

A salon worker echoed this, saying, “Nope, I’ve never seen her, no. I’ve worked in Pudsey a long time but I’ve never seen her. I don’t think anyone has. There’s bits that get said on social media about her being banned in pubs, but no, I’ve not seen her personally.”

A couple noted, “She knocked on our door but we weren’t in. It was before the election, yes.”

A woman who ran for Reform UK in both local and general elections shared, “I stood against Rachel Reeves at the GE, but no [I’ve not seen her]. I stood for Reform in the local election and the general election and I came third by 300 votes. She turned up to the count and was treated like a superstar, but when she actually comes door knocking and people try to talk to her, she runs away. Then a car draws up, bundles her in and off she goes, but she won’t speak to anyone when she’s door knocking.”

Mixed Viewer Responses Online

Social media reactions varied. Some users questioned the segment’s focus, with one asking, “Maybe we should go to Clacton and ask how many times Nigel Farage has been there.” Another commented, “Will you be visiting Clacton to ask how often Farage is seen in his constituency?”

Others offered support, including posts like “Keep up the good work!” and “Labour are struggling up north and in Wales? I never thought I’d see this day come.”
