Flag Football Clash Sparks Tension
WWE superstar Logan Paul engaged in heated exchanges with Tom Brady and other NFL stars during the Fanatics Flag Football Classic. Leading up to the event, Brady dismissed Paul’s training as ‘cute.’ On the field, Paul faced multiple penalties for rule violations and provocative behavior, including snatching sunglasses from Team USA player Housh Doucette’s face and tossing them to the ground after a touchdown. Doucette had taunted him with, ‘Welcome to flag football.’ Paul’s team suffered a loss to Team USA.
Sarcastic Video Apology Surfaces
The following Sunday, Paul shared a video on social media delivering a mock apology. ‘I’d like to take this opportunity to apologize for some of my actions in yesterday’s flag football game,’ he began.
He continued, ‘First, I want to apologize to the United States flag football team for taking [Housh] Doucette’s glasses off of his face and throwing them at the ground. That happened because after he scored a touchdown, he kind of got in my grill and said to me, “Welcome to flag football,” which upset me because it’s comments like that that I just can’t tolerate.’
Paul targeted Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts next: ‘Second, I’d like to apologize to Jalen Hurts for sacking you and later deflecting a pass that then got intercepted by my team, allowing us to score on the very next possession. If you get traded or your contract gets cut down, now we know why, and it’s probably pretty embarrassing, so I am sorry.’
Addressing Brady directly, Paul said, ‘And of course, I’d like to apologize to Tom Brady for applying so much pressure on you play after play after play that had you literally fearing for your life. I understand you’re older, it’s not like you could go anywhere, and you got frustrated, which is why you threw the ball at me. And I want you to know that I forgive you for that, because that’s what real men do.’
He concluded, ‘And lastly, I want to apologize to everyone that said that I was not a great athlete, because you all look stupid as hell right now. Thank you.’
Throughout the game, Paul persisted in confronting Brady, escalating their pre-event rivalry.
Social Media Erupts in Backlash
The video prompted widespread criticism online. Former NFL player Asante Samuel commented, ‘Just say you wish you were a football player.’ Others mocked Paul’s appearance and motives, with one stating, ‘Your barber also needs to say sorry.’
Comments labeled the apology as rage bait: ‘One thing the Paul brothers gon do is create fake beef w/ a legend.’ Another read, ‘Played a flag football game with nfl players who are barley [sic] going half speed and are only there for the check and now think he’s #TheS**t fairs mister Paul.’
Stronger reactions included, ‘Logan Paul is a genuinely a pathetic person and it is a travesty people support him….biggest man baby I’ve ever seen,’ and ‘The Paul’s are the greatest rage baiters the world has ever seen.’ One user noted, ‘He’s trying so hard to create beef with far superior athletes who barely even know who he is. It’s cringe and comical all at once.’
