Auriemma’s Unusual Advice Sparks Turnaround

After struggling in the opener against UT San Antonio, Fudd received pointed guidance from head coach Geno Auriemma, the most decorated figure in college basketball history. He recommended trimming her fingernails to improve her game.

Fudd acted on the tip and delivered a breakout showing against the Orange. Before heading to the locker room at halftime, she shared with ESPN’s Holly Rowe, “I did, I trimmed them. I had a nail file yesterday before practice.” She added, “I guess [Auriemma] was right, I had to cut my nails.”

The Huskies’ lopsided victory highlights their prowess under Auriemma’s leadership.
