New Album and Single Release
McCartney announces his new studio album, The Boys Of Dungeon Lane, set for release in May, along with the single Days We Left Behind. The single debuts on BBC Merseyside, marking his first new music in five years. A new portrait and artwork feature photography by his daughter, Mary McCartney, 56.
The album explores memories of his Liverpool hometown and early adventures with George Harrison and John Lennon before Beatlemania. Sir Paul describes the single as a memory song: “This is very much a memory song for me. The album title, The Boys of Dungeon Lane, comes from a lyric in this track.”
He reflects: “I was thinking just that, about the days I left behind and I do often wonder if I’m just writing about the past, but then I think how can you write about anything else? It’s just a lot of memories of Liverpool. It involves a bit in the middle about John and Forthlin Road which is the street I used to live in. Dungeon Lane is near there. I used to live in a place called Speke which is quite working class. We didn’t have much at all but it didn’t matter because all the people were great and you didn’t notice you didn’t have much.”
Introspective Themes and Production
Analysis portrays the album as McCartney’s most introspective work, turning inward to his formative years in post-war Liverpool, the resilience of his parents, and pre-Beatles days with bandmates. These songs capture a candid, vulnerable mood.
The octogenarian records the album during tight sessions between global tour legs over five years, alternating between Los Angeles and Sussex. It originates from a meeting with producer Andrew Watt over tea and ideas five years ago. This marks his 18th solo studio album.

Before this career milestone, McCartney relaxes in St. Barts with wife Nancy, 66. The couple marries in 2011 after meeting in 2007.
