Married At First Sight bride Alissa Fay opens up about the pivotal moment she realized her relationship with TV husband David Momoh had ended. The 33-year-old registered nurse explains that early trust issues surfaced around four weeks into the experiment, setting the stage for ongoing tensions.
The Breaking Point
Alissa describes an initial incident that shattered trust, from which she never fully recovered. “We had an early incident, maybe four weeks into the experiment, that really rocked us. Trust was broken and looking back now, I never really healed. I never fully let go of that hurt,” she shares.
Further strain emerged during a couch session with experts, where David publicly aired private grievances. Alissa expresses disappointment that he did not address concerns directly sooner. “Why have we not had productive conversations sooner? I was really upset. All the stuff he said, ‘Alissa does this, does that’, he should have brought that up in the weeks that we had. Why only at the couch session? It threw me off guard,” she states.
Social Media Mockery
Alissa voices frustration over David’s social media posts mocking their relationship. “I’m really upset, I feel like this is really immature behaviour. The mockery is not okay. Have some respect, I don’t go out there making posts mocking our relationship,” she says. “I feel like I have been professional, that is just immature. If you can’t say anything nice, keep your mouth shut, keep it to yourself.”
Tribute to Mel Schilling
Alissa pays heartfelt tribute to late MAFS expert Mel Schilling, who passed away at 54 after battling bowel cancer. Still processing the loss, she recalls a deep connection. “I haven’t had a time to process it all, it is quite confronting. Yesterday, I was catching up on some episodes and they had a tribute to Mel on. I cried for like two hours after it. She was just such a beautiful light,” Alissa shares. “Out of all the experts, I really connected with Mel. I just remember having a big hug with her, she told me I was amazing this season. It is just heartbreaking.”
Dating Rumors Denied
Alissa dismisses reports linking her romantically to Australian Ninja Warrior star Nathan Ryles, a fellow Adelaide native. “What is going on, all this speculation, he is engaged! I follow him and his fiancée Tori on social media. We are friends, Adelaide is a small place,” she clarifies. “Adelaide is just like that, everyone knows everyone! It is just noise.”
Relationship Backstory
Despite early promise as a strong couple, cracks appeared during a retreat. Unseen footage shows Alissa upset over bedroom window blinds, leading to a heated exchange. “F*** you! I f***ing solve every f***ing problem! You p*** me off,” she told David, who responded calmly, “Don’t talk to me like that, please. Have some respect.”
David later reflected on MAFS: After The Dinner Party, emphasizing his calm approach. “I have this thing where I have to be extra caring. I feel like I was being respectful in the relationship because I knew that from past experiences, being toxic, teeing each other up by using rude words or whatever, it’s not healthy for a relationship. So I try to be calm and reasoning… I feel like for [Alissa], she needed that up and down kind of a relationship.”
Both chose to continue during a recent commitment ceremony, though David noted carrying most of the emotional load.
