Jessica Simpson, the 45-year-old singer, has started a new romance more than a year after separating from her husband, Eric Johnson. She has been dating Nashville-based musician Thomas Eisenhood for the past three months. The couple connected through mutual friends, and Eisenhood has yet to meet Simpson’s three children.
Family Background and Separation
Simpson shares daughters Maxwell, who turns 14 in May, and Birdie, 7, along with son Ace, 12, with Johnson, 46, a former NFL player. The couple announced their separation in January 2025 following a decade of marriage. In her statement at the time, Simpson shared, “Eric and I have been living separately, navigating a painful situation in our marriage.”
Lead-Up to the Split and Fresh Start
Speculation about their breakup began in November 2024 as Simpson hinted at new music projects. She posted online, “Interviews in my Nashville music room where I unearthed my singular magic. This comeback is personal. It’s an apology to myself for putting up with everything I did not deserve.”
In July, Simpson told Today show co-host Jenna Bush Hager that she felt ready to date again. She recently chose to retain their $17.9 million Los Angeles mansion while dividing her time between California and Tennessee.
Music Comeback and New Projects
Last year, Simpson dropped a two-part EP titled Nashville Canyon, recorded in the music hub city. The first installment arrived in March, soon after her separation announcement. In a behind-the-scenes video, she reflected, “The reward of a broken heart is a ballad. You gotta feel to heal.”
Upcoming Performances
Simpson gears up for a series of concerts in May and June. On Instagram, where she has 6.2 million followers, she announced, “I am very ready for my concert era folks! Here are the first dates of 2026 that I get to set my soul free on stage! I’m fired up to rock n roll, are y’all? Presale code: JESS.”
Prior to her marriage to Johnson in 2014, Simpson was wed to Nick Lachey from 2002 to 2006. She was later romantically linked to John Mayer and Tony Romo.
