Silva Nears Man City Exit; Saints Draw City in FA Cup Semis

Bernardo Silva’s distinguished tenure at Manchester City nears its conclusion, though it may yet feature one last trophy. City draws Sky Bet Championship side Southampton in the FA Cup semi-finals, while Leeds takes on Chelsea in the other matchup.

No Fairytale Ending for Silva?

Manchester City’s assistant manager Pep Lijnders hints at Bernardo Silva’s summer departure. The 31-year-old Portuguese midfielder, with six Premier League titles, a Champions League crown, two FA Cups, and five Carabao Cups across 450 appearances, enters the final year of his contract amid ongoing transfer rumors.

Lijnders, speaking after Saturday’s FA Cup victory over Liverpool in place of manager Pep Guardiola, addressed Silva’s replacement: “Every good story comes to an end and I hope he enjoys the last months – because there is only six weeks – and has a good farewell. He deserves all the attention as well.”

Southampton Earns City Clash

Southampton secures a semi-final against Manchester City after ousting Premier League leaders Arsenal 2-1 in the quarter-finals. The Championship promotion chasers celebrate the draw against Guardiola’s team.

Leeds advances to face Chelsea following a thrilling quarter-final against West Ham. The visitors led 2-0 at the London Stadium, but the hosts equalized in added time, forcing extra time. Leeds prevails 4-2 on penalties, reaching the semis for the first time since 1987.

Semi-final matches occur on Saturday, April 25, and Sunday, April 26, at Wembley Stadium.

Arsenal Shifts Focus to Sporting Lisbon

Arsenal aims to recover from their FA Cup upset when they travel to Sporting Lisbon for Tuesday’s Champions League quarter-final first leg. Midfielder Christian Norgaard advises the team to move past the loss quickly, following substitute Shea Charles’ late goal for Southampton that echoed their recent Carabao Cup final defeat to City.

Norgaard emphasizes positivity: “The message is to have a positive body language, to talk with your team-mates, with the coaching staff. Now is not the time to go with our heads down for too long. It’s fine to be frustrated tonight and also tomorrow to analyse what went wrong, but then we also have to look forward because there are so many big games coming up for this club.”

Arsenal then hosts Bournemouth on Saturday in a crucial Premier League fixture.

Championship Spotlight on Easter Monday

Leaders Coventry defends an 11-point advantage over Millwall with a trip to play-off hopefuls Hull. Millwall, fresh off a Good Friday win at Middlesbrough to enter automatic promotion spots, welcomes Norwich. Middlesbrough faces Swansea, while fourth-placed Ipswich hosts Birmingham.

Relegation-threatened Leicester and Oxford seek vital points away at Sheffield Wednesday and Portsmouth, respectively.
