Rachel Alexander Faces Extreme DUI Charges After Severe Intoxication

Published on

Rachel Alexander, a 54-year-old former prosecutor and conservative commentator, faces multiple extreme DUI charges following an arrest in Scottsdale, Arizona, on December 21. Police reports detail her severe intoxication, including slurred speech and inability to correctly pronounce Maricopa County Sheriff Jerry Sheridan’s name as “Sherry Jeridan.”

Arrest Circumstances

Officers pulled over Alexander’s blue Mustang near 84th Street and Shea Boulevard after a 911 call reported the vehicle swerving erratically and running a red light. She admitted consuming wine, with purple-stained lips visible. Described as argumentative, stuporous, and incoherent, Alexander struggled to exit her vehicle, slurred her words, and moved slowly while unable to maintain balance.

During the stop, she repeatedly requested “Sherry Jeridan” and inquired if Sheriff Sheridan had discussed “us entering the jail” with officers. When pressed for clarification, she remained incoherent. Alexander initially claimed a leg disability but later denied any medical conditions during booking. She resisted a breathalyzer test, attempting to walk away while insisting, “I am not drunk.” Officers noted she stumbled forward and struggled with balance.

She referenced her past role as a prosecutor, expressing reluctance for field sobriety tests due to that experience.

Charges and Test Results

Lab results confirmed Alexander’s blood alcohol concentration at 0.230 percent—nearly three times Arizona’s legal limit of 0.08 percent. Authorities charged her with two counts of extreme DUI, two counts of DUI, and one count of driving without valid registration. She received a citation and release around midnight, with a criminal complaint filed on December 26. Her next court appearance is a pre-trial conference on April 20.

Events Leading Up

Earlier that evening, Alexander attended a Republican Christmas party, doubling as a birthday celebration for local figure Ashley Earle. She shared a selfie on X with Senate President Warren Petersen, calling it the “best Christmas party in Arizona tonight.”

Background and Online Presence

Alexander served as a Maricopa County deputy attorney from 2005 to 2010 and as assistant attorney general in the Arizona Attorney General’s office from May 2000 to 2003. Now a freelance writer and commentator with over 138,000 followers on X, she founded the Intellectual Conservative news journal and contributes to Four G Media. She often refers to her county as “MaRICOpa County” and describes herself as a “recovering Maricopa County Elections attorney and prosecutor.”

Since the incident, she has continued posting on social media, criticizing leftist prosecutors and their alleged funding sources.

Statement from Alexander

In a statement, Alexander affirmed, “I always accept responsibility for my actions, and remember in the United States of America, no one is guilty until convicted in a court of law.” She added, “It is time for the left and their agents who have ruined countless lives through lawfare and making our situations hell, to accept responsibility for all the destruction they have wrought and are wreaking in our society today.” She vowed to “hold my head high having survived the worst legal and professional beating from these evil people and I will continue to do my part to hold them accountable.”
