Scottie Scheffler has reaffirmed his commitment to prioritize family above his golf career, stating he would retire immediately if the sport ever strains his home life. The two-time Masters champion targets a third green jacket this weekend at Augusta National, where he triumphed in 2022 and 2024.
Family Takes Precedence
Scheffler emphasized that professional golf ranks below his roles as a husband and father. He declared, “I’m blessed to play golf, but if it ever affects my home life or my relationship with my wife or son, that’s the last day I play for a living.”
“This isn’t the most important thing in my life,” Scheffler added. “I’d rather be a great father than a great golfer.”
New Arrival Strengthens Family Bond
The 29-year-old golfer and his wife Meredith recently welcomed their second son, Remy, just before the tournament. The couple, who already share son Bennett, now form a complete family of four. Meredith traveled with the boys to support Scheffler this week.
Speaking on Golf Channel, Scheffler shared, “We had another boy a couple of weeks ago. It’s been really nice and fun. My wife is a trooper and brought the boys this week.”
On choosing Remy’s name, he noted Meredith prefers endings like ‘i,’ ‘e,’ or ‘y’—similar to Bennett, nicknamed Bennie. “Remy was a name we liked. No real significance,” Scheffler explained, opting not to delve into online meanings.
Masters Momentum Builds
Superstitious observers highlight Scheffler’s even-year wins, fueling hopes for 2026 success. With family cheering from the sidelines, Scheffler balances his title pursuit and personal priorities seamlessly.
