Rapper Aitch describes the hotseat on The Assembly as more intense than the Australian jungle on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!. The innovative ITV show features interviewers who are autistic, neurodivergent, or learning disabled, earning praise for its honest and direct style.
Aitch Faces Tough Grilling
Aitch, whose sister Gracie has Down’s syndrome, calls his appearance an “absolutely unreal” experience that restored his “faith in humanity.” When asked to compare a Bushtucker Trial to the Assembly hotseat, he admits sweating more during the interview.
“I would actually say it’s more intense in the Assembly hotseat than a Bushtucker Trial,” Aitch states. “I really don’t know why but I sweated more in that chair than I did in my whole time in Australia – put it that way.”
He suggests Ed Sheeran as an ideal future guest, praising the singer’s positive energy. “He’s just a good person, he brings good vibes no matter where he is,” Aitch says. “I can’t lie, I would definitely be locking into that episode solely for entertainment purposes. I feel like it would be a good laugh.”
Sir Lenny Henry Confronts Personal Query
Sir Lenny Henry reacts with shock to a direct question about his 13-year relationship with girlfriend Lisa Makin. The comedian, previously married to Dawn French from 1974 to 2010, explains how they met on a production of Shakespeare’s Othello.
“She was actually a producer on a show that I did,” Lenny shares. “I was in Shakespeare’s Othello, so I met her then and we had lots of cups of tea and I just started to like her more and more.”
When interviewer Mikey asks, “Why haven’t you put a ring on it then?” Lenny groans, covers his face, and quips, “Have you been talking to her?” He then gasps to another interviewer, “Do they just ask you anything?”
Nicola Sturgeon’s Raw Emotional Moments
Former Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon faces blunt feedback on her hairstyle, with one interviewer comparing her to Mrs. Doubtfire from the 1993 film starring Robin Williams. Sturgeon laughs awkwardly and reveals plans for a radical change.
“I’ve got really, really difficult hair, it’s really thick, you can’t do anything with it, I hate my hair,” she admits. “But, I am thinking of doing something quite radically different to mark leaving politics, I’m not quite sure what yet… like bleaching it or something like that.”
Sturgeon breaks down discussing her 2011 miscarriage, describing the interview as cathartic yet draining. “The tears just started to flow and I didn’t think I was going to be able to stop,” she recalls. “What I took from it was how cathartic it is to open up emotionally to a group of people with no agenda other than hearing honest answers.”
She adds, “I felt exhausted and really drained, but in a good way. It was a genuine rollercoaster of emotions – one minute I’d be laughing and the next, crying. This interview was different to anything I’ve done before.”
