Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia of Sweden shared a heartfelt social media post this Sunday, congratulating their eldest son on turning 10. “Today we celebrate our beloved Alexander’s 10th birthday,” the couple wrote alongside a photo of the birthday boy.
Family Portrait and Resemblance
In the image, Prince Alexander sits wearing a green t-shirt, offering a half-smile to the camera. His features bear a striking resemblance to his mother, Princess Sofia.
Background and Royal Lineage
Born on April 19, 2016, Alexander Erik Hubertus Bertil follows family tradition as the recipient of the Duchy of Södermanland, granted by his grandfather. He ranks fifth in the line of succession to the Swedish throne.
The prince has three younger siblings: Gabriel, aged eight; Julian, five; and Ines, one. Like the children of Princess Madeleine, Alexander and his siblings do not hold the style of Royal Highness and will not perform official duties.
Private Life and Public Debut
The family marked the milestone with affection, preparing a special celebration at home for King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia’s grandson. Alexander has shown a significant growth spurt in recent years.
Since age three, he has maintained a private Instagram account managed by his parents, amid ongoing concerns about cyberbullying linked to Princess Sofia’s earlier experiences.
Alexander first appeared at an official event in summer 2018 during a visit to Nynäs Nature Reserve. He arrived in a classic horse-drawn carriage, captivating onlookers with his charm, spontaneity, and cheerful demeanor, sporting long wavy blond hair that has since turned brown.
