Mohamed Salah has played his last game for Liverpool after suffering a hamstring tear in the recent victory over Crystal Palace. Egypt’s national team director Ibrahim Hassan confirms the forward will recover fully for the World Cup.
Injury Diagnosis and Impact
Salah limped off during Saturday’s match at Anfield, sparking fears of a season-ending issue. Medical assessment reveals a hamstring tear that demands four weeks of rehabilitation, ruling him out for all remaining May fixtures. This injury denies fans a fitting on-field send-off as the Egyptian star prepares to leave after nine triumphant years at the club. Liverpool has yet to issue an official update on his status.
Ibrahim Hassan stated: “He has suffered a hamstring tear and will require four weeks of treatment.”
Arne Slot’s Post-Match Reaction
Manager Arne Slot discussed the setback, highlighting uncertainty amid the short timeframe left in the season while praising Salah’s dedication to fitness.
“We don’t know. That is the best answer I can give,” Slot remarked. “There might be a chance but we simply don’t know. What we do know is that the season is over in four or five weeks so there are not a lot of games and we have to wait and see how. But Mo has taken such good care of his body all these years that he will have the minimum time required to recover. Let’s hope for the best.”
Slot continued: “Another win and another injury. It’s the story of our season. It’s too early to say but we all know Mo and how hard it is for him to leave the pitch. For Mo to leave the pitch, it shows you something but we have to wait and see how bad it is.”
Liverpool’s Premier League Push
The Reds occupy fourth place with 58 points, on track for Champions League qualification, holding an eight-point lead over Brighton in sixth. Key upcoming tests include away trips to Manchester United and Aston Villa, followed by home games against Chelsea and Brentford—the latter originally slated as Salah’s Anfield finale.
