Trump Rejects Iran’s Secret Peace Proposal Via Pakistan

Published on

President Donald Trump expresses dissatisfaction with Iran’s latest confidential peace proposal, delivered through Pakistani intermediaries to resolve the ongoing two-month conflict. Speaking to reporters on the White House lawn, Trump indicates uncertainty about reaching an agreement, stating, ‘We’re not sure we’re going to get a deal.’ He adds that Iran seeks a deal but faces significant disarray, noting, ‘They all want to make a deal but they’re all messed up.’

Trump Highlights Iran’s Challenges

Trump emphasizes Iran’s weakened position, declaring, ‘Iran wants to make a deal because they have no military left.’ He criticizes the proposal’s terms as unacceptable, explaining that Tehran demands concessions he cannot accept. The President also points to internal discord among Iran’s leadership, describing it as ‘very disjointed’ with ‘two to three groups, maybe four,’ which hinders negotiations.

Proposal Aims to Reopen Vital Strait of Hormuz

The new offer seeks to break the deadlock and restore access to the Strait of Hormuz, a critical chokepoint transporting one-fifth of the world’s oil supply. Specific details remain undisclosed. Prior Iranian proposals have included reopening the strait but offered no substantial nuclear concessions.

Divergent Demands Stall Talks

U.S. officials insist on Iran suspending its nuclear program and surrendering enriched uranium stockpiles as prerequisites for peace. In contrast, Tehran demands an end to economic sanctions and full control over the strait. Trump acknowledges progress, telling reporters that Iran has ‘made strides’ in talks, but remains skeptical: ‘I’m not sure if they ever get there.’

Escalation Through Strait Disruptions

Iranian forces have disrupted shipping by deploying speedboats to attack and seize oil tankers, alongside laying sea mines in the strait. In response, the U.S. enforces a naval blockade on Iranian ports to compel Tehran toward serious discussions.
