M*A*S*H Actress Gwen Farrell Dies at 93, Family Honors Legacy

Hollywood actress Gwen Farrell passed away at the age of 93 in Los Angeles on Thursday, April 30. Her son, Keith Farrell, confirmed the news, though the cause of death remains undisclosed.

Television and Film Roles

Farrell appeared as a nurse in 26 episodes of the iconic war comedy-drama series M*A*S*H, starting in 1972. She also featured in films including Coffy (1973), Earthquake (1974), and Billy Jack Goes to Washington (1977).

Family Launches GoFundMe

Farrell’s loved ones started a GoFundMe campaign on Thursday to cover funeral and memorial expenses, aiming to raise $13,000. The family shared a heartfelt message: “Today, our family is heartbroken to share the passing of Gwen Farrell Adair.”

Born in Austin, Texas, Farrell lived a life marked by strength, character, and quiet resilience, according to her family. Her mother, Lovie Yancey, founded the popular Fatburger restaurant chain.

Trailblazing Boxing Career

Beyond acting, Farrell made history in the 1980s as a boxing referee in California. Her family noted: “With confidence, fairness, and unwavering composure, she earned the respect of fighters, trainers, and fans alike. She didn’t just do the job; she broke barriers and proved that strength comes in many forms.”

They emphasized that while her screen time was brief, including her role in M*A*S*H, her true legacy shone through her real-world presence and daily grace.
