Katy Perry recently posted a series of affectionate photos on Instagram featuring her boyfriend, former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. The 41-year-old singer shared close-up moments with the 54-year-old politician, including a beach embrace overlooking the ocean and a black-and-white shot where she rests her head on his neck, both smiling tenderly.
Teasing a New Chapter
The post included a Scorpio horoscope reading stating, ‘A 7-year journey begins.’ Perry captioned the carousel ‘April showers bring May flowers,’ highlighting outtakes from the past month. One fun image showed a jar of pickles labeled ‘Katy and Justin’s pop and policy pickles,’ playing on her music career and his political background.
She also shared a mirror selfie of her outfit of the day and a group photo from the April 23 Baby2Baby Mother’s Day event in Los Angeles. Perry wore a white T-shirt and red bandana while posing with Miranda Kerr, ex-wife of her former fiancé Orlando Bloom.
Relationship Timeline
The couple first sparked romance rumors in July 2025 and went Instagram official in December. Perry split from Bloom, father of their five-year-old daughter Daisy, in early 2025. The breakup was confirmed in July after months of speculation. The pair dated since 2016 and got engaged on Valentine’s Day 2019.
Representatives noted at the time that they were shifting focus to co-parenting. ‘They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is – and always will be – raising their daughter with love, stability, and mutual respect,’ the statement read.
Trudeau’s Son Gives Approval
Trudeau’s 18-year-old son Xav, an aspiring musician, recently voiced support for his father’s relationship. On the Can’t Be Censored podcast, he shared that Perry offers helpful feedback on his songs.
‘When I’m really happy with a song I send it to her. She’s always happy to give me advice or tell me what I should change,’ Xav said. ‘She’s super nice. She’s super down to earth. She’s great. I think that my dad’s happy so that’s important.’
Growing up in the public eye due to his father’s political career, Xav described seeing photos of his dad with Perry as normal. ‘It’s just like any other picture of my dad and my mom. Or just my dad,’ he added.
