Opera singer Camilla Kerslake, wife of former Strictly contestant Chris Robshaw, appeared unrecognizable with a severely burnt and swollen face following a CO2 laser treatment valued at £1,000.
Treatment and Immediate Aftermath
The 38-year-old performer, who shares five-year-old Wilder and two-year-old Hunter with the 39-year-old ex-rugby player, shared graphic images on Instagram 24 hours after the intense procedure. She described the pain as comparable to ‘the worst sunburn of my life’ and admitted she ‘didn’t recognise myself.’
Camilla underwent the gifted treatment to address skin laxity and rosacea that developed after Hunter’s birth in 2024. CO2 lasers deliver targeted light beams to vaporize the skin’s outer layer, encouraging fresh skin regeneration.
In her initial post, she explained: ‘Last night was a really rough night, you have to sleep elevated and on your back… The pain was intense, like I had two babies with absolutely no drugs. I would think my pain threshold was really high, but it really hurts.’
She captioned the images: ‘I share my #CO2laser recovery journey as a working mother of two. I was struggling with some skin laxity and rosacea after the birth of my second son so I went to see @dr.vaheclinic and he recommended a combination approach which I’ll share with everyone. Gifted.’
Recovery Update
A day later, Camilla posted another video showing reduced swelling but persistent redness and bleeding. She told followers: ‘If I don’t laugh I’ll cry, look at my face. I did expect swelling and redness, but I did not expect this amount.’
Career and Family Background
Beyond opera, Camilla has starred in West End productions like Les Misérables. The couple’s second child, Hunter, arrived via a dramatic home birth. Midwives faced traffic delays during early labor, but Chris later reflected: ‘At one point things were getting intense, but in the end it was exactly what we wanted… I was in the pool, it was four hours from start to finish. It was amazing – dramatic in the middle – but a good story for when he’s older. And I’m even more grateful for the NHS.’
Wilder has shown some jealousy with occasional tantrums since his brother’s arrival.
Recent Public Stance
Camilla recently criticized actor Timothée Chalamet’s remarks dismissing interest in ballet and opera. During a February town hall, the 30-year-old said: ‘I don’t want to be working in ballet or opera. Things where it’s like, “Hey, keep this thing alive, even though no one cares about this anymore”.’
Camilla responded: ‘People in the ballet and opera world, including myself, have been hurt by his comments. If anything, cinema is the dying art form. People still dress up and go out to the opera and ballet, but increasingly the public would rather stay in watching Netflix than go to the cinema.’
