Spotify now brings its popular AI DJ feature to additional countries, addressing long-standing user requests. Premium subscribers in Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Switzerland, Brazil, and South Korea gain access starting today.
New Languages Enhance User Experience
The expansion includes support for French, German, Italian, and Brazilian Portuguese. This allows users to issue voice commands in their native languages, creating a more seamless interaction with the AI DJ.
Years of User Frustrations Addressed
Since its debut in early 2023 for Premium users in the US and Canada, AI DJ has gradually expanded to the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and select regions in Europe, Asia, and Africa. However, major markets like France and Germany remained excluded, prompting widespread complaints on social media.
One user recently noted on Reddit: “I got a notification saying the DJ was there… so I clicked on it, and it said it wasn’t available in my country.”
Spotify Explains Deliberate Rollout
Spotify highlights the effort behind localization: “To build DJ, we want it to feel like a native experience. So, we went through over 100 auditions, selecting voice talent that felt authentic to each market. From there, the team worked with local teams to help shape each DJ’s personality — making sure the tone, warmth, and cultural nuance felt genuinely local, not just translated.”
Future updates promise greater interactivity based on listener feedback.
