Rangers Manager Faces Pressure After Title Hopes Fade
Rangers head coach Danny Rohl confronts mounting pressure following consecutive defeats to Motherwell and Hearts, which have effectively dashed the team’s Scottish Premiership title aspirations. The losses over the past two weeks have intensified scrutiny on the German tactician’s position at Ibrox.
The team suffered a 3-2 home setback against Motherwell, marking Rohl’s first league defeat at Ibrox, before falling 2-1 at Tynecastle to Hearts despite leading at halftime. These results leave Rangers seven points adrift of the leaders with just three matches remaining.
Wolfsburg Links Fuel Speculation
Reports indicate Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg holds interest in bringing Rohl back to Germany. However, the 37-year-old manager firmly addresses the rumors, emphasizing his dedication to the Glasgow club.
“My full focus is on Rangers,” Rohl stated. “There are a lot of rumours. I looked back last year with how many clubs I was linked—I could get maybe 20 jobs there in the newspaper.”
Long-Term Commitment and Rebuild Plans
Rohl reveals ongoing discussions with the Rangers board center on future success. “Even the last couple of days, our conversations with the board and the club go just in one direction: how we can win titles with the club in the future,” he affirmed.
He expresses 100% conviction in staying, aiming to transform Rangers into consistent champions. “From my side, of course, 100%. I’m convinced I chose this club to bring it back to success and win titles,” Rohl declared. The manager outlines plans to elevate standards, stressing sustained 90-minute performances and squad evolution.
“A good process is not enough for this club. We want titles, and for this we have to change things,” he added. Rohl highlights the need to avoid past underachievements over the last 15 years and build a “team-first” culture.
Old Firm Showdown Looms
Rangers head to Celtic Park on Sunday for the season’s final Old Firm derby. A victory could secure second place and Champions League qualifying spots while boosting morale.
“Nobody needs extra motivation for this game. We want to make our supporters proud and deliver on Sunday,” Rohl said, referencing a prior 3-1 win at the venue. He urges focus on game management and resilience amid recent second-half lapses.
