Caitlin Clark Faces Backlash for Joining Morgan Wallen After WNBA Loss

Published on

Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark has ignited criticism from fans after making a surprise onstage appearance with country singer Morgan Wallen shortly after her team’s season-opening defeat.

Concert Appearance Sparks Debate

Clark joined Wallen during his signature walkout at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on Saturday night, coinciding with the second show of his sold-out tour. The event unfolded just hours after the Fever’s 107-104 loss to the Dallas Wings in Clark’s WNBA regular-season return since 2025.

Fan Reactions on Social Media

Social media users voiced strong disapproval, urging Clark to prioritize basketball. One fan posted on X: ‘She needs to focus on winning games and not missing game winners. She’s out of touch.’

Another described it as a ‘terrible look,’ writing: ‘Terrible look for CC after losing this afternoon [and] you out partying.’

A third fan expressed outrage: ‘What the f*** is wrong with her? I’m out. Never wearing those jerseys again. Guess I am spending time today unfollowing and deleting Fever apps.’

On-Court Frustrations

During the game, Clark engaged in a heated, expletive-filled exchange with Dallas Wings guard Aziaha James. She tallied 20 points and seven assists but grew frustrated with the physical defense and what she called ‘flopping’ by opponents on camera. Clark left the court twice for back stiffness treatment amid the narrow defeat.

High Spirits at the Concert

Despite the loss, Clark appeared upbeat walking out with Wallen to cheers from the crowd. Teammate Sophie Cunningham attended, capturing the moment from floor seats and sharing it on Instagram with the caption: ‘You bada** b****.’

Wallen’s Controversial Past

The pairing draws extra scrutiny given Wallen’s scandals, including a 2021 racial slur incident caught on video and an April 2024 arrest for allegedly throwing a chair from a Nashville rooftop.

Fever’s Path Forward

Clark holds WNBA records as the fastest to 1,000 points, 250 rebounds, and 250 assists, yet the Fever struggle defensively and in close contests. The team prepares for a quick turnaround against the Los Angeles Sparks on Wednesday.
