A former winner of the popular reality show ‘I’m A Celebrity’ is reportedly reeling after his mother’s home was engulfed in a devastating house fire. The incident, which occurred shortly before a significant charity event, has left the family facing extensive damage and emotional turmoil.
Charred Remains and Devastating Discovery
The star, known online as Angry Ginge and aged 24, took to social media on Tuesday to share a harrowing update from the scene. Images and video revealed the extent of the destruction within his mother Michelle’s property, with significant portions of the building appearing charred and burned. In a video posted from what was once the living room, the YouTube personality, whose real name is Morgan Burtwistle, was seen wearing a mask to protect his respiratory system from the lingering smoke and debris.
He explained to his followers that the call about the fire came on the morning of Sunday, May 31, just hours before he was scheduled to participate in the charity football match, Soccer Aid. The news of his mother’s home burning down left him understandably devastated.
A Difficult Morning Before a Triumph
“So as you can tell, you wouldn’t think it, but right now I am in my mum’s house,” Burtwistle stated, standing amidst the wreckage. “Morning of Soccer Aid I get a phone call saying mum’s house has burned down. This is what we are dealing with now.” He indicated that the situation was still unfolding and that the presented damage was not the worst of it, promising further updates to his concerned fanbase.
The incident understandably impacted his post-Soccer Aid plans. Burtwistle had to cancel a planned live stream on Monday night (June 1), citing a “major family issue.” This was later revealed to be the tragic house fire.
Support and a Need for Family Time
Despite the personal crisis, Burtwistle participated in Soccer Aid, where he helped Team England lift the trophy. He later expressed gratitude for the support he received from fans during the event, acknowledging that it had provided a much-needed distraction. However, he emphasized his immediate need to step away from social media to focus on his family and the extensive task of rebuilding his mother’s home.
Humble Beginnings and a Mother’s Dedication
Morgan Burtwistle was reportedly raised by his mother, Michelle, in a council house in Salford. Reports indicate that Michelle worked diligently as a cleaner and care home assistant, earning approximately £12,500 annually to support Morgan and his sibling. She has previously spoken about the importance of keeping him engaged in after-school activities, such as cubs, football, theatre, and rugby, as a key factor in steering him away from negative influences.
