Aubrey Plaza and Christopher Abbott Make Red Carpet Debut, Announce Pregnancy at Tony Awards

New York City’s Radio City Music Hall buzzed with excitement on Sunday evening as actors Aubrey Plaza and Christopher Abbott made their first-ever public appearance as a couple at the 79th Annual Tony Awards. The stars, both radiating happiness, confirmed their pregnancy news with Plaza visibly cradling her burgeoning baby bump on the red carpet.

Plaza, 41, known for her role in ‘Parks and Recreation,’ was in attendance to support Abbott, 40, who is nominated for Best Featured Actor in a Play for his portrayal of Biff Loman in Arthur Miller’s ‘Death Of A Salesman.’ The couple’s red carpet debut comes after reports of Plaza’s pregnancy first surfaced in April, a revelation that surprised many of their fans. The baby is expected to arrive this fall, though the gender has not yet been disclosed.

Stylish Appearances on the Red Carpet

Plaza looked stunning in a floor-length black spaghetti-strap dress featuring bold pinstripes. The elegant gown accentuated her midriff, complemented by open-toe shoes and her signature brunette locks worn down. Minimal accessories allowed her radiant glow and the pregnancy announcement to take center stage.

Abbott matched his partner’s sophisticated style, opting for a classic black velvet tuxedo with slightly cropped pants, showcasing black boots. A slim black necktie and a crisp white pocket square completed his ensemble, presenting a unified and fashionable front for the couple.

A Shared History on Stage and Screen

The couple, who previously shared the stage before their relationship blossomed, reportedly feel “very blessed” following the announcement of their upcoming child. Their professional connection began in 2019 with the independent psychological drama ‘Black Bear,’ where both actors took on dual roles. The film, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2020, garnered critical acclaim, with Plaza’s performance receiving particular praise.

Their collaboration continued in 2023 with an Off-Broadway revival of John Patrick Shanley’s play ‘Danny And The Deep Blue Sea,’ which concluded its run in January 2024. Prior to their Tony Awards appearance, Plaza and Abbott were last seen together on February 14 at Khaite’s Fall/Winter 2026 show during New York Fashion Week.
