Actor Shia LaBeouf celebrated a significant personal milestone on Thursday in New Orleans, marking his 40th birthday alongside his new girlfriend, Nicole Mumphrey. The couple’s outing comes after LaBeouf received a suspended sentence for a recent bar altercation.

LaBeouf and Mumphrey, who have been publicly linked since earlier this spring, were observed walking hand-in-hand through the city. The actor wore a pale pink patterned short-sleeved button-up shirt, black shorts, and black Nike Cortez sneakers. Mumphrey was seen in a white summer dress and brown flip-flops.

The duo reportedly enjoyed a meal at a Mexican restaurant before visiting a cookie shop. During their stroll, Mumphrey was seen resting her head on LaBeouf’s shoulder, and he affectionately stroked her chin, presenting an affectionate public display.

Legal Proceedings Conclude for Recent Altercation

Last week, the filmmaker entered a guilty plea to three misdemeanor counts of battery stemming from a bar brawl in February. He was subsequently sentenced to two years of probation, which includes mandated alcohol abuse rehabilitation, sensitivity training, and anger management classes. This resolution was reported by People magazine.

Following his arrest on February 17 for battery, LaBeouf was initially released on his own recognizance. However, the court later required him to post a $100,000 bond after allegations surfaced that he used a gay slur during the incident. A second charge carried an additional $5,000 bond, and a third battery charge was later added.

In a statement provided by his legal counsel, Sarah Chervinsky, the defense addressed the charges and the subsequent sentence. Chervinsky stated, “The police and DA investigation proved exactly what Shia LaBeouf said from the beginning – that this was nothing more than a minor Mardi Gras bar tussle.” She further commented, “There is no evidence it was about bias or prejudice, which is why the state only charged these low-level misdemeanors.” Chervinsky added, “Mr. LaBeouf came to court today wanting to take accountability for his part in what happened, and he has done so. Now he’s looking forward to focusing on family, work, and new creative projects.”

Personal Life and Reflections

The birthday celebration follows closely on the heels of LaBeouf’s legal proceedings. Days prior, he received his suspended sentence for the Mardi Gras incident.

In a wide-ranging interview conducted on February 24 and published on February 28, LaBeouf briefly discussed the dissolution of his marriage to Mia Goth. The former couple shares a four-year-old daughter, Isabel. LaBeouf relocated to New Orleans, a city with family ties, after their separation in 2025.

Regarding his divorce, LaBeouf stated, “It’s not new heartbreak. I don’t want to talk too much about it. It’s not my story alone to tell, but my side is I failed my marriage, so I had to own up to that. So that’s why I moved out here.”

During the extensive interview, LaBeouf also shared details about his family history. He explained that his paternal grandmother was a lesbian who married a man to serve as her “beard.” His surname was originally spelled LeBoeuf, but his grandmother altered it to distance herself from her family, who had disowned her. On the subject of homosexuality, LaBeouf commented, “I’m good with gay. Be gay over there though. Don’t be gay in my lap.”
