Becky Hill Celebrates 16 Years of Music at Worcester’s Marrs Bar
Pop sensation Becky Hill is returning to the very venue that launched her musical journey 16 years ago, marking a significant full-circle moment in her career. The 32-year-old artist will headline a special performance at The Marrs Bar in her hometown of Worcester as part of the ‘Everywhere At Once’ festival, a nationwide celebration of grassroots music venues powered by The National Lottery.
The two-time Brit Award winner, who first graced the stage at The Marrs Bar as a 16-year-old, is set to perform at the now sold-out show. The ‘Everywhere At Once’ festival, running from June 26th to 28th, will feature over 400 grassroots music venues across the country hosting hundreds of live performances, spotlighting both established artists and emerging local talent.
A Return to Formative Years
Ahead of her performance, Hill revisited The Marrs Bar, reflecting on the crucial role early gigs in such intimate settings played in shaping her as an artist. In a video captured at the venue, she shared how performing in grassroots spaces provided her with invaluable opportunities to develop her stage presence from a young age.
“At 16, I played my own compositions and had friends and family down to Worcester’s Marrs Bar,” Hill stated. “In these early days, it was venues like this that allowed a very young me to begin to learn how to perform, sing, and play guitar on stage, gaining my confidence and broadening my experience as a teenager.”
She continued, “I look back on those times very fondly and I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity that places like The Marrs Bar provided. It saddens me greatly that grassroots venues are at risk, as I believe that homegrown music is key to our country’s culture. I’m honored to be working alongside The National Lottery and Music Venue Trust for their ‘Everywhere At Once’ festival, 16 years later at the same venue but with far more experience!”
National Lottery’s Support for Music Venues
The ‘Everywhere At Once’ festival is a testament to the significant impact of National Lottery players, who have raised over £1 billion for music-related projects across the UK. This funding plays a vital role in supporting venues, artists, and community organizations, particularly as many grassroots venues face increasing financial pressures despite their immense cultural importance.
The festival, delivered in partnership with the Music Venue Trust, aims to create a national moment celebrating the grassroots music ecosystem. It underscores the necessity of sustaining the spaces where live music originates, ensuring that future generations of artists have the same opportunities to thrive.
