Major Retailers Issue Urgent Product Recalls Over Safety Concerns
A significant number of products have been subject to urgent recalls by the Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) in recent days. These recalls encompass a range of items, with particular attention drawn to one product presenting a “serious chemical risk” and another with a potential fire hazard. Consumers in possession of any affected items are strongly advised to cease their use immediately and return them to the point of purchase for a full refund. Recalls have been issued across numerous retailers, including prominent names like Argos, Amazon, and Currys.
Facial Stickers Pose Chemical Health Risk
The Vice Versa Boutique Leo Face Sticker has been withdrawn from the market due to serious chemical concerns. Testing revealed that the stickers contain excessive concentrations of phthalates. The OPSS has stated that phthalates can be detrimental to children’s health, potentially causing damage to the reproductive system. The product also requires improvements to its markings and warning labels. Consumers are urged to stop using the product immediately and contact the distributor for a resolution.
Television Plugs Carry Fire Risk
A number of television plugs manufactured by Vestel UK have been recalled due to a fire risk. The issue stems from the plug’s fuse not meeting the requirements of BS 1362. Consumers can visit Television Safety Notice to request a free replacement accessory, which may be a replacement power cable or fuse.

IKEA is recalling its IKEA 365+ HJÄLTE Stirring Spatula (article number 401.494.62) with date stamp 2445, purchased after November 2024. Furthermore, the IKEA 365+ VÄRDEFULL Garlic Press (article number 201.521.58) with date stamps 2411 to 2522 is being recalled.
