Camille Gottlieb Captivates on Beach Getaway, Echoes Grandmother’s Elegance
Camille Gottlieb, the 27-year-old granddaughter of Hollywood legend Grace Kelly, recently turned heads during a sun-drenched escape to the African island of Mauritius. Not only did she draw attention for her striking resemblance to her iconic grandmother, but also for a series of captivating bikini snapshots shared on social media.
Daughter of Princess Stéphanie of Monaco and Jean Raymond Gottlieb, Camille showcased a leopard-print two-piece while lounging on the golden sands, with waves providing a dramatic backdrop. Further images captured her channeling the timeless elegance synonymous with her Oscar-winning grandmother, as she participated in various island excursions with friends.
Intimate Moments and Public Tributes
Beyond the picturesque scenery, intimate moments from the trip also garnered attention. Camille was photographed sharing affectionate public displays of romance with an unidentified companion, with the couple appearing visibly smitten. She shared her joy online, captioning the post: ‘Sunshine, friends, turquoise water, our favourite island on earth and lots of love.’
This beachside getaway follows a notable appearance at last year’s Monaco Red Cross Ball, where Camille paid a significant tribute to Grace Kelly’s enduring style. She wore a custom gown designed to evoke Kelly’s memorable costume from Alfred Hitchcock’s 1954 thriller, Rear Window. The original design, a romantic navy dress with a distinctive portrait neckline and voluminous white skirt, was created by legendary costume designer Edith Head.
Camille’s interpretation of the classic dress featured sparkling silver floral embellishments on the bodice and a daring thigh-high slit, adding a modern flair to the homage. Following the event, she expressed her gratitude on social media, stating: ‘Thanks to @elisabettafranchi, I was able to pay tribute to my grandmother with this beautiful dress.’
The ensemble was accessorized with Cartier jewelry, a subtle nod to the brand that supplied Grace Kelly’s own engagement rings. The event was attended by Monaco’s royal family, including Prince Albert and Princess Charlene, underscoring the significance of the fashion moment as a tribute to Grace Kelly’s glamorous Hollywood legacy before her marriage to Prince Rainier III in 1956.
A Royal Romance Remembered
The narrative of Grace Kelly’s transition from Hollywood star to Princess of Monaco began with a meeting orchestrated by actress Olivia de Havilland. De Havilland introduced Kelly to Prince Rainier III in April 1955, following a chance encounter on a train to Cannes. The pair reportedly connected over dinner, with Kelly describing the Prince as ‘charming’ after a photoshoot at his palace to promote her film, The Country Girl.
Their courtship continued in private, leading to a two-day meeting in Philadelphia and a subsequent proposal. The couple exchanged vows in a private civil ceremony at Monaco’s royal palace on April 18, 1956. This was followed by a grand religious ceremony the next day at Saint Nicholas Cathedral, officiated by Monaco’s bishop and broadcast to an estimated 30 million viewers worldwide.
Grace Kelly retired from acting at the age of 26 to become a princess, a decision made shortly after filming her final movie, High Society. Though Camille Gottlieb never met her grandmother, who tragically passed away at 52 from a brain hemorrhage following a car accident, she clearly embodies her legendary grandmother’s iconic sense of style and grace.
