A 50-year-old man has tragically died after entering the water at Aberavon beach in Neath Port Talbot. The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon amidst soaring temperatures, a record high for June.
Emergency Response and Fatal Outcome
Authorities were alerted to the situation at approximately 16:25 BST. Police were called to the popular beach following reports of a man in distress in the water, requiring immediate medical attention. Coastguard officers were on the scene and administered Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) until paramedics arrived.
Despite their efforts, the 50-year-old, identified as being from Cilfrew, was pronounced dead at the scene. South Wales Police have stated that the death is not being treated as suspicious and that the man’s next of kin have been notified.
