Amabile, known for his appearances on Bachelor in Paradise, posted an update from his hospital room, expressing optimism about his recovery. The procedure involved a craniotomy to excise a small tumor discovered earlier in the summer.

Amabile, 40, posted a series of photos on social media, including one of himself in a hospital bed with a bandaged head, sporting a smile. Another image showed him relaxing in a chair, giving a peace sign, accompanied by a box of cupcakes. His wife, Serena Pitt, 28, was also featured in a photo, holding his hand. Amabile captioned the post with a triumphant “They got it all!”

Pitt echoed her husband’s positive sentiment on her own Instagram Stories, confirming the success of the surgery. “The best update: they were able to remove the entire tumor,” she shared. “Joe is recovering really well. We’re feeling so grateful.”

The journey to surgery began in early July when Amabile revealed that a full-body scan had detected an anomaly. “I didn’t share my Prenuvo results because they ended up finding a lesion on my brain,” he explained at the time. “So I had to go get a brain MRI and there was a blueberry size lesion in my brain that looks to be a glioma, which is a tumor.”

This unexpected diagnosis necessitated the brain surgery to remove and test the growth. Amabile acknowledged the shock of the situation, stating, “Definitely wasn’t expecting this. I think it’s one of those things where you’re like, ‘Oh, something like this [will] never happen to me,’ and here I am.” He expressed hope for a full recovery, noting that doctors indicated it was an early-stage finding. “I hope they are able to get it all, and I’m fine. But I will keep you updated.”

Navigating the Diagnosis and Preparing for Surgery

Amabile, who co-hosts the podcast Not Married To This, shared his decision to be open about his health journey. “I’ve gone back and forth about what I wanted to share on social media but ultimately this is now part of my life, so might as well. Onto a new journey.” He emphasized his commitment to staying positive and expressed gratitude for the support he received from family and friends.

In the weeks leading up to the surgery, Serena Pitt actively sought advice from her social media community to prepare for her husband’s recovery. She posted a video and caption asking for recommendations on essential items and tips for making the recovery process as comfortable as possible. “If you’ve been through brain surgery yourself or cared for someone who has, I’d be so grateful for any recommendations, must-have recovery items, or things that made the recovery process a little easier,” she wrote.

Pitt detailed some of her preparations, which included purchasing specialized shampoo and conditioner for use around the surgical site, pain relief medication, comfortable pajamas, and a supportive pillow for the hospital stay.
