Later in the evening, the energy shifted as Turnstile unveiled their rendition of ‘I Wanna Be Adored.’ This cover, deeply rooted in British alternative music history, resonated with the audience. Frontman Brendan Yates expressed his admiration for the song, calling it “one of my favourite songs of all time.” He elaborated on its appeal, describing it as “unconventional and simple and very… just beautiful.”

Guitarist Meg Mills further elaborated on the band’s choice, highlighting the song’s enduring impact. She pointed to the “iconic basslines of all time,” referring to the late Mani’s distinctive contribution to the original track. Mills also spoke about the cultural significance of The Stone Roses within the UK, particularly for those drawn to alternative music. “Definitely as a Brit, Stone Roses is one of those bands that every kid that had any inkling towards anything alternative just knew from such an early age,” she explained. She lauded the Manchester band as “such an iconic band, and, in my opinion, probably the coolest of all the kind of Manchester bands coming out at that time,” placing them “in a league of their own.” The band’s own version of the song was noted for its dreamy, atmospheric quality, offering a fresh perspective on the classic.
