A 68-year-old woman sustained severe burn injuries in a trailer fire in Abbotsford, B.C., on Monday evening.
Emergency Response
Around 7:15 p.m. PT, two patrol officers traveling along Fraser Highway spotted a large plume of smoke near Ross Road. They quickly arrived at the scene to find the trailer fully engulfed in flames, according to Sgt. Paul Walker of the Abbotsford Police Department.
“Upon arriving in the area, officers located a trailer fully engulfed in flames,” Walker stated in a release.
Victim’s Condition and Investigation
Rescuers discovered the woman at the scene with critical burns. Emergency crews transported her via air ambulance to a hospital in the Vancouver area.
Authorities have yet to determine the fire’s cause. Investigators from the Abbotsford Police Department are collaborating with Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service to assess whether the blaze was suspicious.
