Amandaland Series 2 Trailer: Lucy Punch, Joanna Lumley Return

Published on

The BBC has released the first look trailer for series two of Amandaland, the popular Motherland spin-off. Lucy Punch reprises her role as the ambitious mumfluencer Amanda, while Dame Joanna Lumley returns as her sharp-tongued mother, Felicity.

Key Moments from the Trailer

Amanda remains in the up-and-coming SoHa borough, balancing teen parenting, her Senuous brand, and a job at Kitchen’s Bathrooms and Kitchens. She celebrates the arrival of a trendy coffee shop as a sign of gentrification, proudly showing off her takeaway cup while declaring, ‘She came, she saw, she gentrified.’

The trailer opens with Amanda on stage at her daughter’s school, backed by a stark black-and-white headshot. She addresses the audience like a TED speaker: ‘Welcome everyone. You’ve probably seen my content and assumed it’s another lifestyle brand.’ Later, she tells students, ‘I use social media to touch people.’

In a humorous vlog scene, Amanda fakes a workout finish, spritzing hydration mist to simulate sweat and gasping, ‘I’ve just smashed 7km so you’ll have to excuse my appearance.’

Amanda reunites with friends Anne (Philippa Dunne) and Fi (Rochenda Sandall), plus newcomer Abs (Harriet Webb), the straightforward ex-wife of neighbor Mal (Samuel Anderson). When Abs suggests The Handmaid’s Tale, Amanda mishears, ‘Love anything handmade.’

Felicity delivers a classic barb: ‘You post a picture of yourself eating cakes, and that’s a job?’

Season 2 Plot Teasers

Mid-season, Amanda eyes a grand house for sale and seeks Felicity’s financial help. Her mother, showing subtle signs of aging, hints at needing companionship, potentially leading to a shared living arrangement.

The subtle spark between Amanda and basement dweller Mal persists amid flirty tension. Mal bonds with Abs’s new husband JJ (Ekow Quartey), while Fi discovers her talent as a dog walker after Della (Siobhan McSweeney) joins a cruise job.

Anne stays Amanda’s steadfast ally as the group tackles teen issues like exams, romances, and the school prom finale.

Show Background

Amandaland launched in 2025, following Amanda’s divorce, move to South Harlesden, and teen parenting struggles. The first series delivered six episodes and a Christmas special starring Jennifer Saunders.

TV critic Christopher Stevens hailed it ‘wickedly funny,’ awarding five stars. He noted, ‘The show has become unmissable… Amanda is realising to her horror that she’s no better than anyone else.’
