Bihar Women Entrepreneurs to Receive Rs 2 Lakh Boost Under State Program

Published on

Bihar’s women entrepreneurs are set to receive a significant financial boost as the state government launches the second phase of its comprehensive women’s employment initiative. Under this expanded program, successful small business owners can now access additional funding of up to Rs 2 lakh to scale their ventures.

Widespread Initial Success

The program has already demonstrated remarkable reach, with initial seed funding of Rs 10,000 successfully distributed to over 1.56 crore women through direct bank transfers to their Aadhaar-linked accounts. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar emphasized that the initiative aims to nurture at least one entrepreneur from every family in Bihar.

Enhanced Support System

To qualify for the second phase funding, women entrepreneurs must demonstrate successful utilization of their initial grant for at least six months. Officials will conduct thorough assessments of existing businesses before approving additional funding, which may be disbursed in phases or as a lump sum for high-performing ventures.

Marketing Infrastructure

Beyond financial support, the state government is establishing comprehensive marketing networks to ensure sustainable growth for these enterprises. New entrepreneurs will gain access to established government channels, including garment manufacturing units and dairy sales centers. Additionally, dedicated spaces are being created in local and state-level markets to showcase and sell products made by women entrepreneurs.

Economic Impact and Future Vision

The initiative forms a crucial part of Bihar’s ‘Saat Nischay-3’ development plan, which targets doubled employment and income levels by 2030. “Through this implementation, the social and economic status of women will become stronger,” stated Chief Minister Kumar, adding that the program aims to create sufficient local opportunities to prevent migration for employment.

Ongoing Support

The state government has confirmed that eligible applicants from both rural and urban areas who haven’t yet received their initial funding will be included in the program according to existing guidelines, ensuring comprehensive coverage across the state.
