Bill Gates Attends Australian Open with Girlfriend Paula Hurd
Billionaire philanthropist Bill Gates appeared relaxed at the Australian Open on Saturday, watching the women’s singles final alongside his girlfriend, Paula Hurd. The couple enjoyed premium seating at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne Park, where Belarusian player Aryna Sabalenka competed against Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina.
Gates and Hurd have been present throughout the week for the prestigious tennis tournament. Photographs captured them together on Thursday as well, underscoring their shared interest in the event.
Response to Recent Epstein Files Release
The outing comes just one day after the U.S. Department of Justice released a new batch of redacted files related to the late financier Jeffrey Epstein. These documents, part of thousands unsealed under public pressure, include allegations linking Gates to Epstein’s activities.
A spokesperson for Gates dismissed the claims as “absolutely absurd and completely false.” The statement emphasized that the files only highlight Epstein’s frustration over the lack of an ongoing relationship with Gates and his attempts to entrap and defame him.
Gates has consistently denied any involvement in Epstein’s criminal actions. He previously expressed regret over their association, which ended years before Epstein’s death in a New York jail in 2019.
Details from the Newly Released Documents
Among the latest disclosures is an email Epstein sent to himself on July 18, 2013, seemingly a draft meant for Boris Nikolic, Gates’s top advisor at the time. The message references Gates’s alleged request to delete emails about an STD, antibiotics to give to his then-wife Melinda, and a description of his anatomy.
The email also expresses Epstein’s dismay at Gates’s decision to end their friendship, which had developed over six years. Epstein described himself as “dismayed beyond comprehension” by the choice to disregard their connection.
The Department of Justice continues to release these files in phases, addressing long-standing demands for transparency into Epstein’s network and operations.
