Bridgerton Fans Rage Over Kate and Anthony’s Brief Season 4 Return

Published on

Bridgerton enthusiasts express widespread frustration after Netflix released the final four episodes of Season 4, citing unmet expectations for key characters.

Benedict and Sophie’s Story Unfolds

The season’s first half concluded on a tense note when Benedict Bridgerton, portrayed by Luke Thompson, proposes that Sophie Baek, played by Yerin Ha, become his mistress. Their budding romance faces barriers due to class differences, though Benedict remains unaware of Sophie’s true heritage as the daughter of the late Lord Penwood, played by Arthur Lee.

Sophie’s father passed away early in her life, placing her under the guardianship of his stern wife, Lady Araminta (Katie Leung), who compels her to serve as a maid in the family home—a classic ‘evil stepmother’ dynamic.

Viewers now discover Sophie’s response in these latest episodes, available on Netflix as of February 26.

Disappointment with Kate and Anthony’s Screen Time

Despite anticipation, fans lament the limited appearances of Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley) and Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey). Absent from the season’s initial episodes, the couple returns briefly in Part 2 with their son Edmund. However, as viscount and viscountess, they skip significant family gatherings, appearing only sporadically.

One viewer on X vented: “Kate and Anthony being there for so little time was stupid. We deserved to see more of them.”

Another echoed: “I absolutely adored Season 4—Benedict and Sophie forever!—but I found it quite odd that Anthony and Kate were there for maybe two minutes and then just… disappeared.”

A third demanded: “I demand more Kate scenes in Season 5,” while a TikTok user shared: “I’m so angry—they promised us more screen time than they showed.”

Showrunner’s Tease and Mixed Reactions

Showrunner Jess Brownell previewed the pair’s involvement, stating: “You’ll have to wait and see. They do have an integral role to play in terms of being the viscount and viscountess and the elder siblings. And I think it’s lovely to have them back to advise and guide.”

Not all feedback proves negative. Some fans rejoice at their cameo. One X post read: “Kate and Anthony—I nearly teared up. I miss them so much, wow.” Another enthused: “And omg, what a nice surprise to see Anthony and Kate. I thought we wouldn’t see them this year at all. It’s so nice to see them again, and as happy as ever.”

Bridgerton Season 4 streams exclusively on Netflix.
